We are proud to be able to provide services for US service personnel through TRICARE. As an approved provider with TRICARE, we can offer direct billing for TRICARE Prime holders. This means that once referred by your base medical treatment facility (MTF), we can offer treatment and support for you and your family, without you having to cover the cost of treatment or having to submit claims for services retrospectively. If you are a TRICARE Select/Plus holder, then you can claim retrospectively for the out-of-pocket cost of services received from us.

Service Introduction
TRICARE is a health care program for uniformed services personnel and their families both in the US and overseas. TRICARE brings together health care resources from the Military Health System and a network of civilian health care professionals.
Those who are eligible include:
- Active duty service members and families
- National Guard/Reserve members and families

- Retired Reserve members and families
- Beneficiaries eligible for TRICARE and Medicare

TMH is approved by TRICARE to provide mental health services all over Japan. If you are looking for counseling or psychological evaluation in Okinawa, the Tokyo area, or via telehealth then we can help. We offer services for TRICARE members with Prime, Select and Plus policies.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer any psychiatry or medical services. For these, please refer to your Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
TRICARE Prime Services
We are proud to be able to provide services for US service personnel and their families through TRICARE Prime. As an approved provider with TRICARE, direct billing means that once referred by your base medical treatment facility (MTF), we can offer treatment and support for you and your family, without you having to cover the cost of treatment or having to submit claims for services retrospectively. If you or your family would benefit from a comprehensive psychological evaluation or psychological therapy or counseling, please speak to your MTF regarding a referral to our offices in Tokyo or in Okinawa, or for a referral for telehealth services. Currently full psychological evaluations arw only available at our Tokyo office. Once the referral has been received from your MTF and TRICARE, our TRICARE Prime team will contact you via email.

TRICARE Select/Plus Services
TRICARE Select beneficiaries (see this link for participation criteria) who require mental health services can simply contact us via our web contact form to schedule an appointment. In contrast to TRICARE Prime, Referrals by your MTF are not required. Our TRICARE Select/Plus team will assist you in your enquiry via email and allocate you to one of our providers accordingly. You may need prior authorization for some types of services.
You should expect to pay session fees up front and file your own claims retrospectively to TRICARE. Your therapist will provide you with the necessary invoices to facilitate claims.
What you pay varies based on the sponsor’s military status. Costs include:
- An annual outpatient deductible
- Cost shares (or percentage) for covered services
- Enrollment fees

TRICARE Prime beneficiaries: If you are interested in pursuing a psychological assessment or starting therapy sessions with TMH, please contact your MTF or TRICARE manager and request a referral. If you would like us to walk you through the process, please feel free to contact us and we would be happy to help.
TRICARE Select/Plus beneficiaries: Please contact TMH directly to schedule an appointment. Referrals by your MTF are not required.
